Operation Retribution - West Africa |
|
| Each One Help One |
The pupils featured in these photos are from Bansang primary school, middle and senior secondary school respectively. For the benefit of full disclosure, Bansang is an agrarian community in the Central River Region of The Gambia - West Africa. It is a community of about 12,000 people, flanked to the east by the meandering River Gambia and to the West by a chain of hills that run lazily across it's length like a floating Chinese dragon. Bansang is also a business hub that serves a series of satellite villages and hamlets within the region. The items in the photos came from my own personal collection, and from the generosity of the Apache Belles at Tyler Junior College (Tyler, Texas http://www.tjc.edu) who were very considerate and gratuitous in giving away their surplus "gla-gla" sneakers shown in the photos. The tennis program at TJC equally deserves commendation for sharing their surplus tennis balls. I would remiss if I fail to thank Suffian Tijan (a shipping agent in Dallas) for contributing towards making the shipment of these items a possibility. Thanks to all the helping hands in The Gambia. Last but not the least, my love and staunch ally through it all - my dearest Amina. by Sheriff Kora
